The spirit of The Islands invades historic Marine Stadium – site of the 1932 Olympic rowing, canoeing and kayaking events – on Saturday, July 10 for the 2010 Kahakai Sprints.Clubs and individuals in various classes from throughout California and the western U.S. will compete in six-person, two-person and individual outrigger canoes, rowing on a 500-meter straightaway course. Knock-out finals will be held on a shorter 250-meter course.

Gates open at 6:30 a.m., with the first race at 8:30 a.m. and the last race scheduled for 3 p.m.  Food – including Hawaiian-style dishes -  and beverage will be available, and the day includes kid’s races, face painting and a raffle.  For further information, call (562) 310-1038 or visit www.kahakaioutrigger.com.
